JOIN USThe National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (Nimhans) has introduced an online appointment facility for screening out-patients.
Speaking at the Institute Day celebrations in the City on Friday, Prof Satish Chandra, director, Nimhans, said the service had been introduced in an attempt to make securing appointments hassle free.
To book an appointment, patients are required to provide essential details such as mobile phone number, after which a docket number will be sent to them via SMS, containing information on the date and time of appointment. 50 such slots will be open on an everyday basis.
Chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Nandan Nilekani, who spoke on the occasion, opined that Aadhaar cards could be used in the healthcare system of the next generation.
“Health records have a lot of data-oriented information and Aadhaar cards can be used by individuals to maintain health records,” he said.
‘Privacy ensured’
Nielakani further said that the security and privacy of the individual will be ensured with the Aadhaar card.
“Modern technology has been used to build systems with a gigantic data base. So, I strongly believe we should look at how to build this health system,” he said. Nilekani pointed out that as many as one million Aadhaar cards are being used on a daily basis.
