There was something for everyone

The campus of PES Degree College looked quite colourful and full of energy as the students celebrated the Commerce and cultural fests recently. The highlight of the cultural function was a mehendi competition.

The commerce fest included technical rounds such as the product launch and soft-skill development programme. The students actively participated in all the activities and also made sure that everything went as per the schedule.

While the mehendi competition saw them showcasing their hidden creative talent, the Commerce fest had them applying their theoretical knowledge to the competitions. The product launch saw students coming up with innovative concepts and ideas and presenting their products with a catchy tagline.

“The fest was a great platform for all of us. Those interested in art could take part in the cultural events and those interested in the technical rounds took part in the Commerce fest. What was interesting was the way everyone worked together to organise it. Being a part of a fest teaches us a lot. It makes us more confident as a person as we interact with people from different fields,” says Shwetha, a student.

The soft-skill development programme was equally helpful for the students. It was organised as an add-on programme after classes and the students learnt a lot. Experts from the field were invited for the programme and they gave a lot of inputs about how things function in the industry and prepared them for the upcoming placement session.

“It was a very helpful session, we got an opportunity to clear our doubts and ask them about the subjects we should pursue in future. The experts guided us and told us about the competition that exists today and how we should cope with it. They tried to help us with our course also. It will surely prove beneficial for the future,” says Anusha, a student.

The students got a break from the routine and tried to utilise their resources to bring out the best in themselves. “It was a lot of fun and we hope to raise the bar next year. It was a refreshing break from academics and many students were able to make use of the platform given to them,” concludes Shwetha.
