Mathias, Joshi star in Canara win

David Mathias shone with bat while veteran Sunil Joshi produced vintage bowling performance as Canara Bank notched up a 32-run win over BPCL in a low-scring encounter at the BCCI Corporate Trophy in Vadodara on Monday Riding on Mathias unbeaten 84 (95b, 5x4, 5x6), Canara posted a modest 202 for seven in 50 overs.

In reply, BPCL could only manage 170 before being dismissed in 45.3 overs. Joshi returned figures of 3/44 to skittle BPCL’s chase.

In Mumbai, State Bank of Mysore suffered their second successive despite an improved batting performance. Having mustered 272 for eight in 50 overs, SBM found the total inadequate as Food Corporation of India replied with 273 for six in 47.4 overs.
