It sure is a Harry Potter in the making. The Twilight Series, that consist of fantasy novels written by Stephanie Meyers, are quite a rage amongst youngsters. These books have now been turned into successful movies, which are finally hitting the theatres in India. While Twilight released on November 20, its second part, New Moon will be releasing on December 11. Metrolife speaks to some fans of the series, who have not only read the books, but have seen Twilight many times and are planning to watch New Moon soon.
Chinmayi, a class 10 student of Sri Kumaran Children’s Home, says her favourite part is Twilight. However, she feels that the movie didn’t live up to the book. “Though the casting is really good, the actors cannot act that well,” she exclaims.

She is looking forward to New Moon now. “I have planned to watch it as my exams are getting over on the day of the release.” But the part that she wants to see on the big screen the most is Breaking Dawn. “It’s got so many vampires,” she reasons.
Rumeen, a student of Mass Communication, was not much into reading, before she came across the Twilight series. “Vampires have always been portrayed as mean creatures in movies, but over here, they are romantic,” she says.

She loves the chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who play the roles of Bella and Edward in the movie. “Though I like the werewolves as well, I am loyal to the vampires,” she laughs. She is really excited about New Moon’s release. “That’s because Edward and Bella part ways in the beginning. So I want to see how do they get back.”

Says Reshma, a student of dance, “When Twilight released all over the world, but not in India, I watched the movie on the Net.” She laughs, “Even though, it’s a sin to watch pirated copies, I couldn’t help it.” Besides Edward, she likes Jacob, the werewolf, as well. “Except for the fact that he is too blind about Bella,” she adds.
Breaking Dawn is her favourite book of the series, and she is looking forward to seeing it on the silver screen as well. “The character of Bella becomes more interesting in this book.” She notes, “The romance element in the series is just amazing.” Vibish Sivakumar, a student of R V College has seen Twilight a “million times” and is waiting to watch New Moon. “I like the relationship between Bella and Edward. It’s hard to find such love in today’s world.” He adds, “Edward has a perfect life — he has money, looks and love. This is what everyone strives for in reality.”

But ask the girls on what they like the most about Twilight series, and they say, “Edward.”
“I started reading the series only because my friends used to rave about Edward,” sums up Chinmayi.
