Youth held for hoax bomb call

The Hebbagodi police on Monday arrested a 20-year-old youth on the charge of making a hoax bomb call to Narayana Hrudayalaya on Hosur Road.

The suspect, identified as Ashwin Kumar Tiwari, is a resident of Nelamangala. Police said that he called the hospital from his cell phone on Saturday night claiming that a bomb has been planted in the hospital.

The police rushed to the spot with bomb detection and disposal squad, searched every corner of the hospital and termed the call a hoax.

The police collected details from the cell phone service provider and noticed that the call originated from Nelamangala. They took Tiwari into custody after confirming his involvement.

Tiwari, who runs a paan shop in Nelamangala, suffers from a mental disorder, police said.

Tiwari’s aunt was admitted at the hospital six months ago. He found out her hospital slip and dialled the contact number printed on it, claiming that a bomb has been planted in the hospital. He has been arrested and booked under Section 507 of the Indian Penal Code.
