Envision 2014’, the two-day commerce fest of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College of Women (MLACW), was held  at the campus recently. The events included verticals like ‘Wealth Out of Waste’, ‘Best Manager’, ‘e-collage’,  human resources, finance, marketing and business quiz. There were various rounds in each event.

Sadhana Bhagavan, a student from PES College of Business Management, who took part in the human resources event, said that she was amazed how well planned the event was and how well it was executed.

“There were different rounds in the event and I was surprised that there were so many competitors. It had surprise rounds too and I even had to address a crowd of 200 people,” she detailed.Participants said that the theme of banking was also something unique. “I took part in the marketing event and though this was my first time at an event, I liked the way it was put together. The judges were also apt,” said Akshay Nair of Garden City College. He said that he was nervous when he took part in the event but the rounds were of high standards. Meghana S Belavadi, a final-year BCom student of Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management, said that usually management fests are generic when it comes to aptitude rounds. “But here, the rounds were based on a theme. Also, it was well-organised.”

Students also liked the variety of topics that some of the events had. Shruthi MR from Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College, who took part in the business quiz, said, “Only basic knowledge of the happenings across the world was required to get through the rounds in the quiz. The questions were not just business-oriented but also revolved around technology and other topics. The rounds were challenging and had variety.”

It was not just the participants but also the organising committee who enjoyed putting together the fest. Poonam Devi B, a BCom final-year student at MLACW, said that it was a good experience to work for the fest.

“We’ve been working towards the fest since a month and we’re glad to hear that it has paid off well. We got to work together as a team and learnt many important lessons through the whole procedure,” she said.
