Ukrainian falls into gorge, rescued 3 days later

A 70-year-old tourist from Ukraine has been rescued by local residents and the police, three days after he fell into a 100-foot valley at Jatayuteertha near here.

Pavlo Krynova could not move as he had fractured one of his legs and survived only on water at the deserted spot. On Tuesday, local residents Nagakumar Gopi, Ravi Upadhyaya and police constable Mahadeva Siddi noticed the tourist and rescued him.

Police sub-inspector Santosh Kaikini shifted Krynova to the Kumta hospital in an ambulance.

He speaks only Russian and was undertaking the trip alone. This was the reason why the police had to admit him to the hospital.
