SP blasts Congress for dividing state

Last Updated 18 February 2014, 22:49 IST

MPs from different parties, opposing the move to carve out Telangana state, described the decision as “unfortunate”.

The Samajwadi Party, an ally of the UPA government, accused the Congress of dividing the people of Andhra Pradesh.

“It's unfortunate. The Congress wants to divide the country. Our voices were ignored and they didn't let us speak on the Telangana Bill,” SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said. “We have never seen such scenes before. The Telangana Bill was passed in chaos. What happened in the Lok Sabha is shameful,” Yadav said.
