B-schools see deluge of placement offers

It is not only the Indian Institute of Mana­gement, Bangalore, that has got good placement offers this year despite the sluggish growth of economy.

Students of a number of well-known B-schools in the State are also getting pampered by companies from various sectors.

The placement session of a number of these institutes is on and offers are pouring in. Manipal-based T A Pai Management Institute is perhaps the most well-known B-school after IIM-B in Karnataka.

It has got an offer of Rs 47.09 lakh per annum for one of its postgraduate students from Etihad Airways.

As many as five of its students have received international placement offers from the same company and another two from a brand and retail management company in Oman. They are expecting three more such overseas offers from an African company.
The process of placement for students of postgraduate programme in management at Xavier’s Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore, started in January and will go on till March. However, it has already got 105 placement offers for its total batch of 175 students. Offers have been made by over 45 companies, some of which are ICICI, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, Samsung. Another 10 companies are expected to make more offers till the session closes.

The average salary offered this year is Rs 6.3 lakh per annum. Last year, it was Rs 6.1 lakh. The number of students in Master’s in Management Programme at Indian Institute of Science is far lesser than other B-schools. However, this has not stopped companies from lining up. As many as 15 placement offers have been made to 13 of its students enrolled in the programme.

As many as nine companies from various sectors like consulting supply chain/retail, and finance have showed interest and these are HP, a start-up company, Enlightiks, Walmart Labs, McKinsey KC, Cognizant, Wipro, ICICI, Genpact and Impetus. The average salary offered was Rs 9.5 lakh per annum and the highest salary offered is 12.8 lakh by Mckinsey KC. The highest number of offers (3) was made by Enlightiks. A number of such start-ups like Analyttica, BrandSigma, AlphaMatters, Ugam have shown keen interest to participate in the placement and summer internship, according to Student Placement co-ordinator Gunjan Narakul.
