Constable beaten up for objecting to loud music

A constable attached to the Rajajinagar police station was beaten up by two men, including the head of an NGO, early on Tuesday when he warned them against creating nuisance in the neighbourhood and playing music loud. The suspects have been arrested.

The police constable, Aradhya, and one of his colleagues were on night patrol when they heard loud noise from a house in front of Spandana Hospital, Rajajinagar 4th Block, around 2 am. The policemen then went to the house and found three men — Ravikumar, 44, who runs an NGO, Somashekar, and Shivananda — in an inebriated condition and yelling at each other.

“The constables warned them against playing music loud, saying it would disturb patients in the hospital as well as the residents. But the suspects did not heed the advice and Ravikumar and Somashekar then beat up Aradhya,” said a Rajajinagar police officer. Sandeep Patil, DCP (North), said Ravikumar and Somashekar had been arrested based on a complaint by Aradhya. They have been booked for assaulting a public servant. Shivananda is being pursued, he added.
