Road to Norway that never was!

Nan Lifealli

Director: Ramdeep
Cast: Anish Tejeshwar, Sindhu Lokanath, Dilip Raj and others

Hero Deepu wants to go to Norway twice in the film – first to study and later, to take up a job there. Both times he is foiled by the follies of love – first time it is his brother and the second, himself! Moral of the story: Be careful with love while making plans involving Norway!

Nan Lifealli brings together the Coffee With My Wife jodi Anish and Sindhu. And Manojava Galagali from Cyber Yugadol Nava Yuva Madhura Prema Kavyam. A mix of dreams souring in the face of harsh realities of life and conveniently placed misunderstandings take this highly simple love story forward. Before that, viewer has to get adjusted to two things.

One, the pace and mood of the film. Given that writer-director Nagtihalli Chandrashekhar is associated with the film, the film’s opening too holds promise which fizzles out subsequently, thanks to the spaces left between cues which widen unfortunately, spoiling the mood.

Next is the camerawork. Manohar Joshi AND team worked wonders in Simplaag Ond Love Story but the bar seems to be set very high by the man himself who fumbles badly. Films about slices-of-real-life lend themselves well to the colour and tone used here, not to mention uncertain lighting. In a love story as this one, it is criminal to butcher its prospects, leaning towards achieving the mid-80s, even early 90s look by adding filters and colour papers! The shot involving Manojava talking to his sister who’s already out of the room clearly shows the lack of focus.

Scenes like the college fight, the heroine’s idea of celebrating Friendship Day, etc, heighten the expectation of a fresh approach, a different take and the like. Acting-wise, Manojava could do well by just letting things be. His dialogues are good, rendered pretty well by Mitra but being self-conscious ruins Manojava’s performance. Nanjunda and the guys who play Anish’s friends are good.

Yet, Nan Lifealli leaves behind a feeling of dissatisfaction – a little spice of pace and better harmony between director’s vision and camerawork would have worked wonders.
