Pinkathon draws  over 5,000 participants

Pinkathon Bangalore 2014, an international women’s 10 km run was held in the City on Sunday, to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage good health among women. 

Around 5,000 women, including doctors, from various corporate firms, colleges and social clubs participated in the run under various categories. The event was flagged off by actor Milind Soman, Ashwini Mehra, chief General Manager, State Bank of India and Deveika Bhojwani, breast cancer survivor and founder of Women’s Cancer Initiative.

Milind Soman, founder of Pinkathon said: “I’m happy to see so many women coming here to lend their support. Events like these go a long way in creating awareness, which is the key to fighting against breast cancer.”

The money raised from the event will be used to treat economically challenged cancer patients.


K C Shruthi emerged winner in the 10K category, while Sowmya Nair won the 5K category and Tejaswini Girish was first in the 3K group. The event was organised by Maximus MICE and Media Solutions.
