Four-wheeler rams into the motorbike of patrolling cops

Krishnaswamy, a head constable and Charan Raj, a constable attached to the HSR Layout police station are undergoing treatment at Apollo hospital and their condition is stated to be critical. According to sources, the cops were patrolling on Cheetah when they spotted a motorcyclist riding in a suspicious manner on Agara 14th Main Road, at about 12.10 in the midnight. The biker sped away even as the policemen tried to intercept him for questioning. Krishnaswamy who was riding Cheetah decided to chase the motorcyclist. However another four-wheeler coming from behind rammed into their bike and vanished in darkness.

 Later, some passerby noticed the injured cops and shifted them to the hospital. The police suspect that the four-wheeler belonged to the biker's gang. The Department has sanctioned Rs 10,000 each for the medical expenses.

Woman hangs self

A 25-year-old woman suffering from Tuberculosis hanged herself at her Kamala Nagar rresidence in Basaveshwarnagar on Sunday. The police said, Radha was married and has one-and-half-year-old child.

Veerappan’s associate dies

Bose alias Tailor Bose (42), an associate of  Veerappan died at Victoria hospital on Monday morning. He was arrested in November 2008 and wanted in 1993 Palar blast in which more than a dozen officials from Police and Forest Departments were killed. During the last week of October, Bose, suffering from kidney ailments was referred to Bangalore hospital. He was shifted to Victoria hospital and was declared dead on Monday early morning.

Four injured

Four tourists from the City sustained injuries, two of them grievously, in a road accident in Margao on Monday. Narayan Swamy and Mohan have been admitted to Hospicio Hospital, Margao with head injuries. The accident occurred as the car they were travelling collided head-on with a tempo. Hanumanth Raj and Venkatesh have also sustained injuries.
