Recruitment for new medical colleges

The Directorate of Medical Education, Karnataka, has begun the recruitment process for the six new medical colleges to be established in the State.

The proposed new colleges are: Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences, Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences, Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences and Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences. 

In each institution, the recruitment is being conducted for professors (6), associate professors (14), assistant professors (23), senior residents (21), junior residents (24) and tutors (17). Of these,  junior residents and tutors will be appointed on contract basis. 

The process would be on till February 26 on the premises of Karnataka Examinations Authority premises. 

However, the government is yet to secure approval from Medical Council of India (MCI) for these colleges. 

As per the statistics of Directorate of Medical Education, the existing government colleges in the State together have 798 vacant posts.
