Unique concepts take shape

Suvarna Sourabha, an inter-college cultural competition, was organised by the students of BMS College for Women recently.

The two-day fest was a colourful event and the students put their best foot forward to make this competition a memorable one.

While day one had competitions like folk dance and solo instrumental events, day two had rendition of hit songs from films, in which students sang popular melodies, and the solo classical dance event. The competition attracted many talented students, who came up with innovative ideas, and performed with a lot of confidence. Many students, who had never participated in fests earlier, took part this time. Students note that a lot of hard work went into making the fest a successful one.

The campus was decked as the students put up entertaining programmes which won a lot of appreciation from the audience. The audience lauded the participants and said that they presented a great show.

“We worked very hard to put up a good show and all the students in the college helped out with ideas, concepts and by participating. This year, we wanted more people to participate in the group events so that there is good variety and all of them get a chance to do things. It is a great pedestal not only to showcase their talents but also to learn,” says Poornima, a student.

The folk wedding was a popular item and had the students dressed up as bride and groom. Ankitha, a student, notes that it is very refreshing to get two days away from academics, “There are hardly any classes these two days and we enjoy the time with friends. The highlight of this festival are the group events. It is a very colourful fest and we had a great time with our friends. We spend these two days cheering for those who are participating and organising the fest,” she notes.

She points out that there is so much to learn from the fests and it only adds to their skill. “We learn things like team building, crisis management etc , which will help us in the future especially during our placements,” she sums up.
