Grooving to the music

Great gig

It was a feast for rock lovers in the City as ‘The Great Gig in The Sky’, held at the Tinga Tinga Bar and Cafe, saw several rock bands performing the best of their songs for the audience.

Syed and Sachin, the organisers of the rock concert, said that they wanted to get all the rock artistes under one roof and give the music lovers a never-before music

“We are expecting around 150 to 200 people today for the concert and have invited around 10 bands. One of these bands have come all the way from Mumbai to perform here. This is our first attempt at organising something like this and we hope that the music lovers like it,” said Syed.

The concert was kickstarted by the band ‘The Groove Experiment’ and was followed by ‘Pinch’. Other bands like ‘Dioxys’, ‘Broken Membrane’, ‘Dark Light’, ‘Work in Progress’, ‘Spection’, a band from Mumbai, ‘Seed of Changes’ etc also performed at the show.
The day-long show saw youngsters and music lovers from all age groups attending it and enjoying the day with their friends. While most bands stuck to the rock genre, they added their bit to the music and played various sub-genres of rock. Interesting solo guitar pieces, drum solos, great vocals and foot-tapping music made the show a hit among the audience.

Many could be seen singing along and grooving to the music. Karthik, a student who attended the show with his friends, said, “It is a great concept. So many young bands who make good music are getting a chance to make their mark and introduce their music to a different kind of audience here. I am familiar with the music of some of the bands, but many are new faces and it’s great to see so many of them today. Its a day-long show and we can unwind with friends and get to listen to some good music,” he noted.

While some came to listen to their favourite bands, it was a new experience for many others. “I have never had the experience of attending a rock concert. Although I have spent only an hour here, I have already started liking the music. They are all very talented and I like the fact that they are so confident on stage. I will try and attend more such concerts in the future,” said Anakha, who was there at
the show.
