DG and IG of Police Lalrokhuma Pachuau has ordered a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry into the controversy relating to former minister S A Ramdas and Premakumari Jadeda M, a government employee who claims to be his wife.

This follows a recommendation from city Police Commissioner M A Saleem. The commissioner told Deccan Herald that he received a letter of approval for a CID probe from the office of the DG and IG on Tuesday.

Bid to end life

Premakumari, a second division assistant at the office of the deputy commissioner in Tumkur, had on February 11 accused Ramdas of marrying her in secret. Ramdas made a bid to end his life the same night by hanging himself and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

The Saraswatipuram police had booked a case against Ramdas for attempt to murder, criminal intimidation and breach of trust, following a complaint filed by Premakumari.
After his discharge from hospital, Ramdas wrote a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, seeking a high-level probe into the issue.

However, the chief minister had claimed he had no knowledge of the letter.
