Overall development stressed at Sammelana

Literature can be reached to the common man by rendering poetry with the help of music, opined writer Dr Banjagere Jayaprakash.

Presiding over ‘Kavya Kuncha’ programme on the first day of the district-level Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, in Chamarajanagar, on Monday, he said, Manteswamy and Mahadeshwara kavyas are proof for this.

Eight resolutions were passed in the sammelana, they are:  Launch Kabini second phase works, by clearing all technical glitches; Government should boost sericulture, which is on the verge of extinction in the district;  Provide 75 per cent job opportunities for locals in the proposed granite park; Steps should be taken to expand and develop Amruthabhoomi, a brainchild of Prof M D Nanjundaswamy, into a full-fledged research centre; Extend Bangalore-Chamarajanagar rail route up to Gundlupet;  Suitable building and staff for the folklore study centre at M M Hills;  Translation of Science and Humanities textbooks into Kannada with the help of resource persons for the benefit of students.
