Former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is now facing a negative campaign in the city.
In a fresh incident, Kejriwal’s posters were defaced at many parts of the city by a group named Aam Aadmi Sena. The group accused Kejriwal of cheating the people of Delhi and wrote “liar” multiple times on his posters at ITO and other areas.
“He has cheated the people of Delhi. He made tall promises when he went door to door to seek votes. Now who is going to fulfil the promises? He is not interested in honest politics or doing something better for Delhiites; he wants to become the Prime Minister,” an Aam Aadmi Sena spokesperson said.
And then there are video clips being run at cafes and restaurants which show the Aam Aadmi Party founder in poor light.
At a multi-national pizza joint, some organisations paid it to run anti-Kejriwal advertisement on TV through the outsourced ‘outdoor TV entertainment’ network. In this advertisement, an unknown organisation questioned Kejriwal’s credibility.
The advertisement displayed several pictures of Kejriwal sitting on dharna after becoming the Chief Minister. It also ran this sentence on the screen: “Some people said Kejriwal is not following the rules, he says yes he is not following the rules. The central government said Kejriwal is an anarchist, Kejriwal admits he is an anarchist. Is he a person to become Delhi’s chief minister?”
Some people are also sporting anti-AAP stickers on their cars, which say, “Metro stations closed, traffic diverted, don’t blame me, I didn’t vote AAP.”
The Congress, which faced a crushing defeat in the last Assembly elections, has also launched the ‘Pol Khol Abhiyan’ or ‘expose movement’ against Kejriwal. In this campaign, block-level Congress workers are going door to door to tell people about Kejriwal’s alleged false promises.
