Actor C R Simha consigned to flames

The mortal remains of C R Simha, the film and theatre personality who passed away on Friday, were consigned to flames on Saturday at the Banashankari crematorium. 

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who paid homage to the departed soul described Simha as an extraordinary thespian, whose contributions to the Kannada films can never be forgotten.

In his death, the Kannada film industry has suffered a major loss, he said. Hundreds of people bid a tearful adieu to Simha, who lost a prolonged battle against prostate cancer.The Member of Parliament from Bangalore South, Ananth Kumar called him a visionary actor, who brought a new wave to the movie world.

Rutwik Simha, the son of C R Simha, lit the funeral pyre. Simha’s younger brother Srinath, Rajya Sabha member B Jayashri, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Arundhati Nag, Pooja Gandhi, Lokanath, Jaggesh, and several other film personalities paid their homage to the departed soul.
