Sushma opposes 'tainted' ties

In what is being perceived as an embarrassment to the party, senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj took to Twitter to voice her reservation over possible reported moves to have alliances with controversial politicians before the Lok Sabha elections.

In different tweets, Sushma said that she was opposed to the “BSR alliance or merger with BJP in Karnataka” and NDA ally Haryana Janhit Congress move to admit Congress leader Venod Sharma as it does not gel with party’s anti-corruption plank.

“I have conveyed to Shri Raj Nath Singhji in writing that BJP must not permit this,” one of Swaraj’s tweets read, which was a reaction to news reports that BSR Congress chief B S Sriramulu was returning to the BJP fold.

In her letter to Rajnath Singh, she had opposed BSR merger on the grounds that persons facing corruption charges should not be taken in as it was against the high moral ground party has taken to target UPA government.

Sushma also tweeted–“I am strongly opposed to this. I have conveyed my views to Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi. Venod Sharma set to join HJC” – which was unusual since it involved an alliance partner.
