Voter enrolment drive on March 9

With Lok Sabha polls slated to be held in the State on April 17, the district administration is on fast track, making preparations on war footing, according to Deputy Commissioner C Shikha also the district electoral officer. 

First among the exercise, is a special enrolment drive on March 9 to give an opportunity to eligible voters to register their names in the voters list. The available voters list will be displayed at every booth with booth level officials being put on the job. In case of any changes, the voters may collect the prescribed forms and submit the same within 11 days.

Licenced weapon holders have to deposit the same in the jurisdictional police stations according to Arms Act. It is compulsory for the weapon holders to surrender their arms till the model code of conduct is in place up to May 28. That apart, carrying weapons and explosive materials is also prohibited under Section 144 of 1973 during the period.

To ensure smooth transportation during the run up to the elections, the district heads of all the departments have been instructed to give the details pertaining to the vehicles in their possession to regional transport offices (RTOs) in the city. The vehicles shall be required for election purpose and security arrangements. 

In case of any repairs, the vehicles have to be repaired in urgent.
