Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance presents its 4th annual concert with an evening of Odissi dance by the students of Sharmila Mukerjee on December 3 at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road at 7 pm.

‘Bharatanatyam’

Nupura is presenting the Bharatanatyam Rangapravesha of Anusha G and  Aruna G, disciples of Lalitha Srinivasan on December 6, 6.30 pm at the Kincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road.

Latin moves

Latin Dance India is hosting an international dance festival titled India Hip Hop and Latino Festival 09 from December 4 to 6. Renowned international dance instructors from various countries will take part in the fest. For details, call 41627961.

Arts Fest

The Samanvay Arts Festival will be held on December 28, 7 pm at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. Indian classical dances by various exponents will be the highlight. The programme is presented by Sri Rajarajeshweri Kala Niketan along with the Academy of Music.

‘Rasa Sanje'

Venkatesha Nritya Mandira is conducting an annual dance festival called Rasa Sanje from December 5 to 10 at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road. Some of the dancers who will be performing are Shridhar and Anuradha Shridhar of Khechara Academy of Bharatanatyam, Ashok Kumar of Natyanjali School of Dance, Indrani Parthasarathy of Abhinaya School of Performing Arts and Vandya Srinath of Bhramara School of Dance. Classical carnival

Recital

The Kala Premi Foundation presents a Bharathanatyam recital by Varsha Jayaram, disciple of Kiran Subramanyam and Sandhya Kiran, of Rasika Academy of Performing Arts at 6.30 pm on December 5 at the Seva Sadana Auditorium, 14th Cross, Malleswaram.

Ballet moments

Om Institute of Dance and Music is presenting a dance ballet called Sri Purandara Namana on December 5, 6 pm on the occasion of its third anniversary celebrations.
The venue is Ravindra Kalakshetra. Sanjay Shantaram, Director, Shivapriya School of Dance and Gorur R Srimathi will be felicitated with Omkar Award.

Works on existence

Exploration of Existence, an exhibition of Rani Rekha’s recent works, will be on display till December 10 at the SaraArakkal Galerie, ITPL Road, BEML Layout. The timing is 11 am to 6.30 pm.  

Cartoon time

An exhibition of cartoons by Shettigar Brothers, Siddakatte will be held till December 19 at the Indian Cartoon Gallery, No1, Midford House, Midford Garden, off M G Road.

Art Natura

Art Natura-2009, an exhibition of paintings by Hema Purushotham, will be held till December 5 at the Chitrakala Parishat Art Complex, from 10.30 am to 7 pm.

Solo show

Mystical Narratives a solo exhibition by Seema Kohli, will be on till December 7 at the Mahua Art Gallery, 344/8 (above Vijaya Bank), IV Main Road, Sadashivanagar.

‘Edge of Faith’

Tasveer is presenting Edge of Faith, an exhibition of photographs by Prabuddha Dasgupta, which will be on display from December 10 to January 2 at Tasveer, Sua House, 26/1, Kasturba Road Cross. On December 10, ‘Edge of Faith’ by William Dalrymple (author) and Prabuddha Dasgupta (photographer) will also be launched.
Bold Strokes

Palette of Zopa

From the Palette of a Zopa, paintings by Laltanpuia, will be exhibited at the Renaissance Gallerie till December 5. The timings are 11 am to 7 pm.

Visual artists

Integrating the Times, a group show of eight visual artists – Kumaresan, Sunil Sree, Aneesh, Guru Nathan, Saravanan P, Suresh K P, Suresh Kumar and Yuvraj – will be held from December 5 to 24 at the Gallery Blue Spade, The Chancery, No 10/6, Lavelle Road.

Riot of colours

Veda Art Gallery will present an art exhibition by artist Ranjit Das till December 12 at the Veda Art Gallery. On display will be some of the most vibrant works of artist Ranjit Das in a riot of colours. The gallery is located Veda Art Gallery, No1, Kumara Park, next to BDA.

Polke’s works

An exhibition called Sigmar Polke — Music from an Unknown Source will be held till December 18 at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan. Arts education

The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan and India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) are jointly hosting an arts education conference on December 11 – 12 at The Chancery Pavilion, Residency Road. This conference is an extension of Kali-Kalisu, a project to empower the school teacher through arts pedagogy training workshops. For details, call 23414681.

‘Bonjour India’

The opening of Bonjour India Festival will be held on December 5 and 6 at the Alliance Francaise. On December 5, 3.30 pm, the Graduation Students of Srishti School of Design will present the Subjective Cartography by Metamap. At 7.30 pm, Isabelle ANNA dance performance will be presented in partnership with the International Music and Arts Society. On December 6, 5 pm, a photo retrospective by Bernard Faucon will be held. Invitations will be available at Alliance Française from December 4, 1 pm.

Book launch

The launch of Cloud Nine Minus One, the maiden work by Sangeeta Mall, will be held on December  4, 6.30 pm. The book will be launched by Sonia Manchanda, co-founder and principal designer, Idiom Design and Consulting. She will be in conversation with the author followed by an interactive session with the audience. The venue is Landmark, Garuda Swagat Mall, Jayanagar.

Fascinating stitches
