Music for a cause

Technology Alumni Association (TAA), the alumni association of the IIT Kharagpur, organised a music concert by Aurko in aid of the ‘Lights For Education’ at the Indiranagar Sangeet Sabha recently.

The music concert was different where the show was divided into two segments and the audience got a flavour of different types of music. Conceived by the Hindi rock band Aurko, the show was a treat for all music connoisseurs.

The evening started with ‘Indian Idol Junior’ Anjana Padmanabhan in the opening act after which the band Aurko followed. The concert was divided into two parts and began with ‘Popular Originals’, which included numbers from their first Indi-pop album Nadiyaa and tracks from their awaited rock album.

The second section was ‘Unforgettable’s’, where the band paid tribute in their own way to the maestros and legends of the industry. This section included songs like Hum Bewafa, Zindagi Kaisi hai Paheli, Ek Ajnabi, Jaha Teri Ye Nazar Hain, Dumaddam Mast Kalandar and Om Shanti Om, which were appreciated by one and all.

The evening also saw a couple of songs where Aurko jammed with Anjana on Mehboob Mere Mehboob Mere, Suba Hone Na De and Mai To Awi Awi, which made the audience go crazy. The audience went into a frenzy as they applauded and danced to the songs that were performed.

Performer and vocalist of Aurko, Supratik said that he was happy to be associated with such a cause. “The audience was deeply involved and we got a good response. It’s always a great feeling to perform for a reason,” he said.

The audience was deeply impressed by the performance. Utkal Mohanty, president of TAA said, “This is the fourth edition of the ‘Light For Education’ concert and we find the twin objective of promoting sustainable energy and rural education worthy of our support. And a concert with such a reputed band also added to the glamour quotient of this noble cause. Everyone left the venue satisfied.”

“It was a big step for Anjana to perform on the stage with a band which has already made a mark in the industry,” said Padmanabhan, father of the young singer. He added that the concert turned out to be a great evening for the audience.
