UP, RSPB move into semifinals

Uttar Pradesh and Railway Sports Promotion Board on Sunday entered the semifinals of the 4th Hockey India Senior men’s National Championship (Division A) here.

Uttar Pradesh recorded their fourth consecutive win by beating Bhopal 6-1, while Railway Sports Promotion Board posted a 2-2 draw against Hockey Haryana.

Meanwhile, Karnataka posted a facile 7-2 win over Jharkhand in their Pool ‘C’ tie. Results: Pool A: Air India Sports Promotion Board: 3 (Probodh Tirkey 30th, Armaan Qureshi 60th, Vinod Vishnu 62nd) bt Chandigarh Sports Association: 0.

Pool B: Comptroller & Auditor General Of India: 8 (Deepanshu Bhargav 1st, Siddharth Shanker 22nd, 47th 52nd, Mahendra Kumawat 32nd, 37th, Darshan D S 49th, Balwinder Singh 61st) bt Manipur: 1 (Jayenta Meitei K 45th); Sports Authority of India: 2 (Ashok 10th, Manish Bishnoi 52nd) bt Madhya Pradesh: 1 (Nilakanta Sharma 25th).

Pool C: Uttar Pradesh: 6 (Diwarkar Ram 5th, 18th, 63rd, Hamza Mujtaba 46th, Tushar Khandker 55th, Sunil Yadav 57th) bt Bhopal: 1 (Nadeem Uddin 51st); Karnataka: 7 (Pradhan Somanna P 42nd, 58th, Biju B Y 41st, Mudappa M K 43rd, Kusha JP 48th, Thimmanna PL 54th, Somanna CK 62nd) bt Jharkhand: 2 (Chandan Aind 63rd, Prakash Kerketta 68th).

Delhi in semisDelhi got the better of Rajasthan 4-0 in a Pool ‘D’ match to secure their third consecutive win to enter the semifinals of the 4th Hockey India Senior women’s National Championship (Division B) in Bhopal.
