As many as 3.64 lakh citizens have submitted applications to enrol as voters in the City over the last three months.

The voter enrollment drive which started on December 7, 2013, gained momentum only after election dates were announced. The last day (March 16) for registration saw a huge rush.

As the polling date in Karnataka is hardly a month away, electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) may not be issued for the new voters. However, their names will appear in the electoral roll.

They can cast their votes by producing a proof of identity issued by government or semi-government agencies. Ration card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, identity card issued by employers, passport or bank passbook bearing photograph - will be considered as proof of identity.

The election officers will scrutinise the applications before including the names in the electoral roll.

The voters’ list will be displayed at the polling stations also. Citizens can know their polling station by sending an SMS to 9243355223.

Poster removal drive

Posters with pictures of politicians continue to dot the City despite the State Chief Electoral Officer’s direction to remove them.

The BBMP will launch poster removal drive afresh, said sources.
