HC for a law on govt quota seats

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday observed that the government should come up with a legal framework to prevent students from vacating government seats in professional colleges half way through the course to get into another course and college

.

A division bench comprising Justices K L Manjunath and Ravi Malimath said that leaving the college and the course half way through is a loss not only to the college but also to the eligible students who were denied of the seat due to their ranks. The court dismissed a petition filed by B S Shruthi, a medical student, seeking directions to R V Dental College to return her class 10 and second year PU marks card since she discontinued her dental course after getting a medical seat in another college.

The bench came down heavily on the petitioner saying that she had wasted a seat which could have otherwise been taken up by a deserving student.
