A girl from Manipur was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a house at south Delhi's Munirka on Thursday. After initial probe, police have denied foul play and have not recovered any suicide note. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Aben Sofia, 20, who was in the capital since last week, was visiting her cousins, who work with call centres in Gurgaon and live in the rented third floor house at Munirka. According to police, Aben’s cousin sister had returned home from office at around 7.30 am.
Around 8 am, Sofia’s cousin sister had found her in good condition. She then slept on the same bed. “The incident came to light at around 11.30 pm when Sophia’s cousin brother returned home and found froth around her mouth,” said a police officer.

The brother-sister duo tried to wake Sofia up, but they did not find any movement in her body. They immediately alerted neighbours and informed police. Local police rushed to the spot, but she was declared dead. “Crime and forensic teams have also inspected the house,” the officer added.

Sofia’s body has been preserved at AIIMS for post-mortem. Investigating officers suspect it to be a case of natural death. However, police said the exact cause of death can only be confirmed after the autopsy report come.

Sofia’s parents in Manipur have been informed about her death. Police have questioned her cousins and are now looking forward to questioning her parents. The brother-sister duo has told police that they have no idea about what led to her death.
Police are now looking forward to question Sofia’s parents to probe angles of depression or any ailment. Sofia had arrived in the capital in search of a job, but was yet to get one. Sources said it could be also a case of suicide or even food poisoning.
