Bar girls add some spice to SP's brainstorming session

It was supposed to be a brainstorming meet convened by senior Samajwadi Party leaders to discuss the electoral strategy with workers at the grassroot level to ensure a victory for the party nominee Sribhagwan Sharma alias Guddu Pandit from Bulandshahar Lok Sabha seat.

But the meeting held on Sunday evening turned into an entertainment show of sorts with bar girls performing to popular Bollywood numbers. The SP leaders and workers present at the meeting were seen shaking their hips with the dancers and showering currency notes on them. It was not clear if the SP leaders indeed did any brainstorming at all.  

The leaders were oblivious of the fact that the Bulandshahar district administration was recording the event on video. A case of violation of the model code of conduct was later lodged against Buddha Verma, an SP leader and organiser of the meeting, according to police sources here.

Bar girls also reportedly spiced up the ‘holi milan’, a community meeting programme organised after Holi, on Sunday hosted by senior Congress leader in Amethi Munna Singh Trisundi. This is also the Lok Sabha constituency of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. 

A case of violation of the model code of conduct was lodged against Trisundi by police, sources said.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwash, who challenged Rahul in Amethi, slammed the Congress leader for holding such a programme.

Politicians drawn from almost every party, especially in western UP region, hire bar girls for dance performances at their rallies. These girls start their performance well before the arrival of the main speaker at the meeting.

The leaders said the bar girls not only attract good crowd but they also sustain the interest of people in the meetings.
