Last Updated 27 March 2014, 20:12 IST

The High Court on Thursday adjourned hearing of a petition by private engineering colleges seeking to introduce new fees structure, after the State government assured of a solution with next week.

The division bench comprising Justice K L Manjunath and Justice Ravi Malimath reprimanded the government stating “you should either fix fees or allow them to do so. You cannot prolong the matter.”

When the government counsel requested for more time, counsel for petitioners said the government was resorting to arm-twisting.

The petition by 13 private unaided engineering colleges sought a direction to determine fees for engineering courses by Fee Regulatory Committee, as per law enacted on the basis of the Supreme Court’s verdict.
