Gulbarga under summer spell

Last Updated 29 March 2014, 19:12 IST

Summer has set in with its usual severity in Gulbarga district with the maximum temperature hovering around 40 degrees Celsius on Friday. The minimum temperature was 24 degrees Celsius.

The heat conditions remained more or less the same on Saturday with the mercury touching 40.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum shooting up to 24.6 degrees. In fact, the mercury touches 40 degrees in Gulbarga around March 20, but this time, it has been rather late by about a week. The heat generally remains intense through the season, but for the brief relief the sporadic rain brings in.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature will touch 42 degrees Celsius on April 2 and the minimum 25 degrees. With the Gescom resorting to unscheduled power cuts, the situation has only worsened, particularly for the students facing their SSLC examination. Needless to say, the blazing summer will have an impact on the candidates running for the Lok Sabha elections on April 17, as their political future hinges on the voter turnout.
