JOIN USSeven of a family, five of them children, suffered burns after their neighbour allegedly attempted to kill them by setting them on fire in Ghousianagar here on Monday morning.
The victims have been identified as Afzal Pasha, 30, wife Shireen Taj, 25, children Mehfooz, 7, Younis, 6, Yousuf, 5, Saif, 4, and Masood, 3. Afzal, Saif and Masood are critical, the police said.
Afzal, a plumber and Shireen, who rolls agarabatti sticks, allegedly had an altercation with their neighbour Haseena and her family, the police said.
On Sunday evening too they had a fight with the suspects who allegedly splashed petrol through the window on the family members sleeping in a row inside the house and set them afire. Alerted by their screams, the other neighbours rescued them and rushed them to KR Hospital, the police added.
The Udayagiri police are learnt to have arrested Haseena, Jabeena, Aizaz, Adil, Wasim and Syed.
