Kejri says he will never join BJP, vows to defeat Modi in Varanasi

Former Delhi Chief Minister and founder of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said he is contesting the Lok Sabha elections to defeat BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. He also said he will never join the BJP.

“If I wanted to reach the Parliament, I would have contested the Lok Sabha elections from a safe seat,” he said.

“I want to defeat Modi. That is why, I am fighting election from Varanasi. It is also important to defeat Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. That is why AAP’s Kumar Vishwas is contesting in Amethi. Both Modi and Rahul Gandhi need to be defeated. They lead two parties that believe in corruption,” he added.

He denied reports in a section of the media that he might end up joining the BJP.

Campaigning for party’s candidate from East Delhi parliamentary constituency Rajmohan Gandhi, Kejriwal visited Geeta Colony and adjoining areas on an open vehicle.

On the second day of his campaign in the city, Kejriwal pointed out that while the BJP had fielded the tainted former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in Karnataka, the AAP had put up Rajmohan Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, in east Delhi.

“This is the difference between the BJP and AAP,” he said.

It was the second straight day of campaigning in Delhi by Kejriwal for the Aam Aadmi Party, whose minority government collapsed on February 14 just after 49 days.

Some people interrupted his roadshow by showing black flags and shouting slogans against him in Geeta Colony.
