Malavalli MLA P M Narendraswamy alleged that former prime minister H D Deve Gowda’s family was treating Mandya district as if it were the family’s vote-bank.

Addressing a meeting of booth-level activists, here, on Thursday, Narendraswamy said, leaders of the district like K V Shankaregowda, G Madegowda, S M Krishna and Ambarish had strived for the development of Mandya as a whole. “However, this family from Hassan district acts as if it has developed the district. Now, it treats the people of the district as its vote-bank,” he said.

Pointing out that MP and Congress nominee for the Lok Sabha polls Ramya had visited 600 villages in a span of just five months of her term, to study the problems of the people, Narendraswamy said, she has drawn the attention of the Parliament towards the problems of the district.

MP Ramya, KPCC members L D Ravi and C D Gangadhar, Taluk Panchayat President H M Ramakrishna and others were present.

Taking a dig at Congress candidate Ramya, ex-MLC K T Srikantegowda said, those who had entered politics from the glamour world would not be able to solve the problems faced by common people. The voters should choose a leader who had emerged from among them.

He was addressing a hobli-level meeting of partyworkers at Chinakurli, Pandavapura taluk, on Thursday.

He said that the people were aware of the corruption in both the NDA and the UPA governments in the Centre and that they would support the Third Front now.JD(S) youth wing vice-president Ashok Jayaram, ex-MLA H B Ramu and others were present.
