Homoeopathic student bags 17 awards

Dr Sarala Bangalore, student of Government Homoeopathic Medical College, bagged 17 of the 18 awards in her college, for scoring maximum marks in various subjects.

Besides winning a gold medal from the Rajiv Gandhi University for Health Sciences  for the highest marks in Materia Medica subject, she also stood first in the list of overall toppers.
Dr Sufia Farheen stood second and Dr Kalpana M Sharma third. The convocation was held on Thursday.

While students who spoke to the media after the event did not deny that the government -run hospitals did not offer them better opportunities, most of them said that they would consider having their own private clinics.

Dr Sarala said she planned to practise homoeopathy in her home town, Mysore. “I would also visit H D Kote as I understand that there is a need for medical assistance there,” she added.

Dr Sufia and Dr Kalpana, who are both residents of Bangalore, said they would practise in the City.


Karnataka Homoeopathy Medical Association president Dr B T Rudresh said that according to a survey conducted in 12 districts, 10 per cent of the population opted for homoeopathy medicines.
