Venkaiah Naidu takes a dig at Congress

Last Updated 03 April 2014, 21:35 IST

Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday challenged the Congress for an open debate on the growth rate and the fulfilment of the promises.

Addressing reporters in Bangalore, Naidu alleged that the Congress betrayed people in its 10 years of misrule and fulfilled none of its poll promises.

“The 20 key promises made by the Congress-led UPA government, including police reforms, subsidised community kitchen, social security, model schools, increase in minimum support price to the farmers and women’s reservation bill, have not yet been realised even after 10 years,” said Naidu.

He also took a dig at the Congress regime during which the GDP growth rate plummeted  from 8.4 per cent during the NDA regime to 4.8 per cent. The agriculture growth rate too nosedived from 9.6 per cent to 3.6 per cent, charged Naidu.
