BSP raises doubts over VVPAT

Last Updated 03 April 2014, 21:59 IST

Abdul Razack Khan, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Bangalore South, has expressed doubts about trial of Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) system.

Demanding scrapping of VVPAT system, he said most voters are not aware of it and claimed voters may use it to sell their votes for highest bidder.

According to him whenever one casts vote in this system, the name of the party in whose favour the button was pressed is displayed for seven seconds. Anybody can take snap from their mobile phones of the vote cast and get money promised by candidates.

He urged the Election Commission to withdraw its plan to have VVPAT voting system in Bangalore South.
