Lok Sabha candidates from Uttar Pradesh, it appears, are ready to go to any extent to get publicity.

After the Congress nominee from Saharanpur Imran Masood’s ‘chopping Modi’ remarks, a BSP candidate from Kairana Lok Sabha seat has reportedly said that he was the ‘king’ of the district. Kairana seat falls in the state’s Shamli district, about 500 kilometres from here.

“Recently Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had sent the officials to remove a riot relief camp Khurgan village....one of the officials told me that he was the DM of Shamli....I then told him I was DM, CM and PM of Shamli...nothing happens here without my permission,” BSP nominee Kanwar Hasan said while addressing an election meeting at Jalalabad in the constituency on Saturday.

Hasan did not stop there. His bragging continued further.

“If I become the MP of the area, the police officers will stand up before the people....I will make the officials wet their pants if they do not obey my diktats,” Hasan reportedly said from the stage.  He said he would not allow Narendra Modi to enter UP. “Modi will be forced to sell tea in Gujarat,” the BSP nominee said.

Hasan crossed the line of decency many times during his speech. He said that “father-son” (Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav) “enjoyed the dance of Mallika Sehrawat and Madhuri Dixit and spent Rs 300 crore”. “But the cost of a life lost in the Muzaffarnagar riots was only Rs five lakh,” he said. He was apparently referring to the recent Saifai festival.

District officers took cognizance of Hasan's remarks after the same was aired by some local TV channel. A case was registered against Hasan in this regard. Hasan has reportedly gone underground and the cops were now looking for him.
