SC may defer GB Nagar polls

The Supreme Court on Monday decided to consider a petition seeking direction to the Election Commission to postpone polls in Gautam Budh Nagar parliamentary constituency, adjoining Delhi, in view of Congress candidate joining the BJP seven days before the constituency goes for voting on April 10.

Two Noida residents approached the apex court contending that the EC did not consider their representation for adjourning of elections as voters in the constituency would be deprived of a fair choice.Senior advocate Jitendra Mohan Sharma, appearing for the petitioners Mukesh Yadav and Vikram Singh Kasana, mentioned the matter before a bench presided over by Chief Justice P Sathasivam.
