Jain College teams clinch top honours

SBM Jain College men’s and women’s teams emerged champions in the BFI-IMG Reliance State College Basketball League at the Sindhi College Indoor Courts on Tuesday.

 

In the men’s final, SBM Jain defeated Surana College 81-61 while in the women’s title-decider, they beat St Joseph’s Commerce College 49-39.

 

Visu (26) and Kaif (22) were the leading scorers for SBM Jain in the men’s final as they routed Surana.

 

In the women’s final, SBM Jain’s Simonelle D’Souza maintained her form with 15 points with support coming in from Amruta Mane (15).  

 

The winners took home Rs 50,000 each while the runners -up Rs 30,000. The third-placed team took home Rs 20,000.

 

Results: Men: Final: SBM Jain College: 81 (Visu 26, Kaif 22) bt Surana College: 61 (Vijay 16, Gagan 14). HT: 43-34.

 

Third-place match: St Joseph’s Commerce College: 59 (Venkatesh 17) bt New Horizon Engineering College: 47 (Watan 19). HT: 29-27.

 

Women: Final: SBM Jain College: 49 (Simonelle 15, Amruta Mane 15) bt St Joseph’s Commerce College: 39 (Aishwarya 14). HT: 25-18.

Special awards: Player of the tournament: Men: Visu (SBM Jain College). Women: Simonelle D’Souza (SBM Jain College).

 

Most Promising Player: Men: Venkatesh (St Joseph’s Commerce College). Women: Sindhu (RVCE).
