Actress Anne Hathaway says she carried with her a purse-sized bottle of tequila to the 86th Academy awards.

The 31-year-old Oscar-winner said she had a great time at the prestigious award ceremony in the company of her husband Adam Shulman and her actor friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt, reported Huffington Post.

"I guess because I hosted one year... I've gone through it a couple of times, so this year, I decided to do something a little different," Hathaway said.

"I got a perfect purse-sized flask, which I put tequila in, and I had a great time! It was really nice, and it's a great ice-breaker," she added.

The actress, who scored an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Les Miserables', said she met with some confusion about the sitting arrangement at the start of the ceremony.

"I was led to my seat with my husband and I stopped in the section I thought I was sitting in, which was next to my friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and they said 'No, no, no, you're sitting in the center," she said.

As the confusion continued, Hathaway had to sit down on her husband's lap.

"We got to watch one part of the Oscars that way," she said of the moment.
