Cong takes swipe at Modi over marital status

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi became a target on social media as Congress leaders took a swipe at him for finally admitting his marital status.

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Saturday tweeted a couplet to make a veiled jibe at Modi telling him that no one has been able to flourish by speaking lies lifelong. Another Congress spokesman Sanjay Jha tweeted: “For the BJP, comeuppance time! Their Muck Manufacturing Factory has boomeranged on them. Modi has many skeletons in his huge cupboard.”

The party quoted a British newspaper to describe the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate as “much more than a divisive figure” and claimed the world “doesn't trust him”.

On its website, the party said, “The Guardian newspaper questions the credibility of Modi's development model and indicts Modi for his role in the riots in Gujarat in 2002”, referring to an opinion piece in the April 7 edition.
