A 23-year-old woman in south-east Delhi’s Govndpuri has accused her father-in-law and her husband’s friend of raping her.

Police said they have picked up the two accused for questioning, but no arrests have been made so far.

While her father-in-law allegedly raped her over a year ago, her husband’s 32-year-old friend raped her in March this year. The woman approached police on Monday and filed a written complaint against the the two.

The victim was married a few years ago and lived with her family in Govindpuri. “After the alleged rape by her father-in-law last year, the woman left for her parents’ home. She returned to stay with her husband this year,” said a police officer.

The officer said that after her return, her husband took her on a vacation where she was introduced to his friend Sonu. The friend allegedly raped her in Delhi in March.

Police say they are verifying the authenticity of her allegations and refused to divulge more details, such as the vacation spot and the location where the alleged rape took place in March this year. A case of rape has been registered against the two men.

Similar complaint

In another case, a 45-year-old woman called police on Monday afternoon to inform that she was raped by her husband’s friend a month ago at southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area. However, when asked for her location, she disconnected the call.

Police said they are making efforts to locate the woman. “Multiple return calls to her number went unanswered and she soon switched off her phone,” said a police officer.

The woman also complained of getting vulgar SMSes and pictures on her phone from the accused. But neither the name of the accused was disclosed, nor her own identity.

“Since the woman is untraceable and we have very little information about the incident, we cannot register a case. We need to ascertain her identity and record her statement before taking any action,” the officer said.

Police suspect the woman may have been threatened during the phone call and asked not to complain or she may have changed her mind.
