Miscreants rob youth of cash, gold chain

Unidentified men robbed a youth of gold chain and cash near Kanakapura Main Road on Tuesday. According to police, Dinesh Shetty, 27, a resident of Kaggalipura, was returning home at around 10.45 pm, after distributing housewarming ceremony cards to friends and relatives house, when four miscreants accosted and assaulted him with clubs, near Chittibabu Layout, Nice Road, on Kanakapura Main Road.

The miscreants then fled with Rs 33,000 cash and gold chain weighing 8 gm. Shetty informed the staff at the Nice toll booth and also his family members about the robbery. The police, who rushed to the spot and took injured Shetty to a nearby hospital for first aid treatment.

Labourer electrocuted

Siddalinga, 20, a labourer and native of Gulbarga, was electrocuted in a makeshift shed erected next to a construction site where he was employed, in Ramamurthy Nagar on Tuesday.

A makeshift shed made of hollow bricks housed a few labourers. The wiring was not done properly.  Siddalinga, after work, while sitting down to take rest, accidentally touched the wire and was electrocuted, police said.

Hearing his screams, other labourers rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case of negligence has been booked against Srinivas, owner of the building and other supervisors, police said.

Student hangs himself

Mahendra, 24, studying engineering at Mata Amrutanandamayi College, hung himself in his hostel room on Tuesday afternoon. A native of Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, he was residing in the college hostel. Mahendra was alone when he took his life.  

His roommates who returned after watching a movie, found him hanging. He was rushed to a hospital but declared brought dead. No suicide note was found. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
