No immediate appointment of MU VC: Governor

Governor and chancellor of universities, H R Bhardwaj said that he would take a decision on appointment of vice-chancellor to Mangalore University (MU), after the search committee sends him a list of the nominations made.

He added that vice-chancellor to MU may not be appointed immediately by the government, as model code of conduct was in place in the State. He was speaking to the press on the sidelines of a programme held here, on Friday.

On a question on the search committee taking a decision in the absence of UGC nominee, a key member of the committee, he said that he ‘did not know the details’ about the committee. “It is the job of the Higher Education Department, which deals with it. They appoint the committee and the matter was expedited,” he said.

On allegations of plagiarism and misappropriation of UGC funds, against two nominees for the post of vice-chancellor of MU, he said that he could not discuss about the allegations now. “Let the papers (regarding the nominations) come and I will take a decision later,” he added.
