Cong worker’s car torched

A group of unidentified people torched a car owned by a worker of the Congress party in Bommasandra on Sunday night. The motive is suspected to be old rivalry.

In his complaint to the Hebbugodi police, Lokesh, a Congress party worker from Bommasandra, suspected the involvement of BJP workers. According to police, Lokesh had a fight with a BJP worker, Manjunath, during the April 17 Lok Sabha elections over installing a pandal.

Police had arrested Manjunath on Sunday for assaulting Lokesh’s mother. Police suspect that Manjunath and his associates torched Lokesh’s car in retaliation.

They allegedly attacked the car when it was parked outside Lokesh’s home. CCTV cameras installed at the nearby Sparsha Hospital and a bank recorded the movement of some youths. Police are looking into the footage.
