Narayan Naik, who suffered serious burns in an electrical transformer blast at Koramangala 10 days ago, died in the early hours of Tuesday at St John’s Hospital.

Four people were riding two-wheelers near BMTC depot in Koramangala on April 12, when a roadside transformer exploded and the boiling oil from it spilled on them, seriously injuring them.

Naik, a resident of Padmanabhanagar and employed with NU Hospital, was on his way to collect blood for one of the patients when the mishap occurred. Sridhar, one of the four victims, sustained third-degree burns but is recovering speedily. Hemanth and Prakash escaped with minor injuries. The transformer, which was repaired on April 3, exploded due to power overload. A Bescom official said the power supply company would provide a “fair” compensation to Naik’s family.
