Naidu for Krishnaiah as Telangana CM

Last Updated 23 April 2014, 20:52 IST

Playing the ‘backward class’ (BC) card to the hilt, the TDP chief Nara Chandrababu declared AP BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah as the party’s chief minister designate for Telangana. Krishnaiah joined the TDP recently and is contesting from the LB Nagar Assembly seat here.

Naidu made this announcement while addressing a poll meeting in Bellampally town of Adilabad district on Wednesday.

“One day, a BC will become prime minister of this country. This is TDP’s first step towards handing over power to the hands of the backward classes,” Naidu said. He added that the days of rule by few forward caste leaders in Telangana have ended.

However, TDP cadres in Telangana are not too happy with this announcement. BC leaders of the party attacked and tried to stop Krishnaiah from filing his nominations for the LB Nagar Assembly seat.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan said he is happy that Naidu has decided to propose a BC candidate as the CM of Telangana.

Sources say that Naidu has urged Kalyan to participate in the TDP election campaign and the actor has yet to take a decision.
