Campaigning in the Congress strongholds of Gujarat, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday targeted the Narendra Modi government, blaming his administration for not being able to protect the interests of the poor.
Gandhi, campaigning for two constituencies–Valsad in South Gujarat and Kheralu in the North, said that the Modi government only believed in spreading falseties and running a misinformation .
“If these parties want to abolish corruption, they should implement strict anti-corruption laws in their states,” said Gandhi. “In which BJP-ruled state have you seen an anti-corruption law?” Gandhi asked the audience.
She said that the BJP was “behaving as if heavens will come to earth if they come to power, but the reality is different.”
The Congress president also said the party did not believe in “Ganga -Jamuni tehzeeb” (composite culture) on a day when Narendra Modi invoked “Maa Ganga” before filing his nomination in Varanasi, says PTI.
She also ridiculed the chief minister for his claim that if he comes to power at the Centre he will transform the country into “swarg” (heaven) and asked, “Is there swarg in Gujarat?”
