Unable to bear the load of his studies, a 22-year-old chartered accountancy student hanged himself in east Delhi’s Shakarpur. A suicide note was found in his possession in which he blamed his poor progress in studies for the extreme step.

The victim, Vishwajit Saha, a native of West Bengal, was living alone in a rented flat at C-Block in Gurunanakpura, Shakarpur. At 11 am on Tuesday, his friends arrived at his place to meet him.

“Saha did not open the door despite repeated knocks by them. They peeped into the flat and found his body dangling from a ceiling fan,” a police officer associated with the probe said.

Police were immediately informed, following which they arrived, broke open the door and brought down the body. Police found the suicide note in the CA student’s shirt pocket while sending the body for post-mortem.

“He has written that he was depressed as he was not doing well academically. He was unable to take the load of studies,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.

The officer said Saha wrote that his classmates performing better than him had left him depressed. “He blamed himself for his situation as he was not doing well despite help from classmates,” the officer added.

Saha also wrote that no one should be harassed for his extreme step. His parents have been informed and they are on their way to the capital, the officer said.
